The Duafe (Adinkra) symbol come from modern-day Ghana and Cote d’lvoire. It depicts a wooden comb. This is a symbol of femininity, as well as love and care. It also represents good hygiene and being well groomed. The Adinkra symbols belonged to the Asante people, who would print them on cloth, as well as pottery and metalwork. The word “Adinkra” means farewell or goodbye in the Twi language, spoken by the Asante people. The Adinkra symbols are closely tied to the history, beliefs, and traditions of the Asante people.
